From Wellcare: Important Information for Louisiana Producers
The Louisiana Department of Insurance has announced that effective May 2009, insurance producers must apply for license renewal based upon their month of birth. In a communication dated January 12, 2009, the Louisiana DOI announced:
"Beginning with the renewal of the life, health & accident licenses which are due to expire on April 30, 2010, we will be changing to a system of birth month renewals for insurance producer licenses issued to individuals. In order to implement this change we will start the process with all licensed individuals who hold a life, health & accident type license and whose birth month is May. The renewal process will open for these individuals starting April 1, 2009 and remain open until May 30, 2009…"
The Louisiana DOI further noted that the conversion process will result in an extension or overlap of many producer licenses. As such, renewal fees and continuing education requirements will be prorated for those producers.
