Humana Texas Health Plans Important Update

Humana Update

For all our agents contracted with Humana health plans, we want you to be prepared for some upcoming product changes regarding Transitional (Non Grandfathered Non ACA compliant) and Grandfathered Individual Major Medical plans in Texas. These plans will no longer be available after June 30, 2017.

Humana will be sending out discontinuance notices to impacted members starting on December 21, 2016, in order to meet the 180-day notice requirement. These notices make clear that their coverage remains active through June 30, 2017, provided that monthly payments are made. Impacted members will be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) from 60 days prior to their plan termination date to 60 days after their plan termination date.

Take advantage of this opportunity to talk to your clients and educate them on their coverage options.  Also, please beware that this change does not impact Humana’s Medicare business.
