2017 Life Summit Recap

Overview

Each year, Empower Brokerage builds an intensive two-day training for an exclusive set of agents – namely, agents who’ve shown commitment, potential, and excellent production. For this year’s conference that was held July 25-26, Empower chose to focus on life insurance and financial planning – hence the name, Life Summit. Paul Manginelli and Enrique Torres, Empower Brokerage’s life and financial experts, along with three representatives from some of the top life insurance companies, conducted in-depth training and shared industry and carrier updates for the agents in attendance. In addition to the exclusive content shared at the Life Summit, agents were also treated to a night at the ballpark.

Day One

The morning session began with David Russell, Empower Brokerage Regional Sales Director, and Andrea Hektner, Empower Brokerage Business Development Manager. They toured the Empower Brokerage website, focusing on the agent tools and resources available. Then, Enrique Torres stressed the importance of client reviews and showed agents how to conduct client reviews. Additionally, Enrique explained and demonstrated the necessary tools to for a successful client review. Following the break, several agents shared their own testimonials and success stories over their time with Empower Brokerage. After listening to the agents’ shared experiences, Mutual Trust Life Insurance Company Regional Vice President, Mark Creighton, informed agents of the recent changes at  Mutual Trust. To conclude Mark’s presentation, the entire Empower staff joined the seminar as lunch from Feed Store BBC was served.

After lunch, DeWayne Long, Empower Brokerage National Sales Director, gave agents the First Look at the Medicare Advantage 2018 plan benefits. Then, National Life Group National Trainer, Steve Walther, taught agents how to create the financial foundation. Following the break, John Shinn, Empower Brokerage Senior Benefits Specialist, talked about the Empower Brokerage program, Performance Partners, that maximizes agents’ success in the senior market. Next, DeWayne and Enrique taught agents a Ten-Minute Tax-Free Approach. This included tools for asking the right questions, as well as the fact finder for life insurance and senior products. Afterwards, Jeff Hess, Empower Brokerage Individual Medical Specialist, gave an update on the ACA market. Concluding the day, carrier guest speakers, agents, and some of the home office staff headed out to Globe Life Park. Everyone enjoyed seats in the All You Can Eat Porch while the Texas Rangers beat the Miami Marlins 10-4.

Day Two

Enrique Torres started the morning with a lesson on life insurance underwriting. Then, Mutual of Omaha’s Life Sales Director, Jessica Helms, gave training on Mutual of Omaha products. Adding to Jessica’s presentation, Mutual of Omaha’s Advanced Market Specialist, Tom Fridrich, demonstrated several approaches on how to use life insurance for business owners. Following the break, Enrique taught agents how to improve the application process using the iGO e-app. Enrique then transitioned into a look at North American products and illustrations.

After lunch, catered by Christy’s Mexican restaurant, Paul Manginelli provided information on long-term care insurance. DeWayne Long then challenged agents to qualify for the Empower Brokerage vacation trip. He also provided tools to reach this goal by introducing a marketing plan between agents and Empower Brokerage. To conclude the meeting, DeWayne explained the available lead programs and strategies offered through Empower Brokerage.

Final Thoughts

At the summit, agents received training directly from three major carriers and had the opportunity for one-on-one conversations. This is a level of training not all FMOs can offer their agents. Empower Brokerage is happy to put the time and money into giving agents what they need for success. Empower Brokerage would like to thank the agents, as well as the carrier representatives, for their attendance. Now, we challenge all agents to strive for the invitation to next year’s summit.
