
Leticia’s Career
Leticia Martinez was born in Brownsville, Texas, and grew up in Matamoros, Mexico, a vibrant border town that shaped her perspective and values. A stable job in banking provided a strong foundation for understanding people’s financial needs. This skill benefited Leticia when she began working in the insurance field in 2010. Becoming an insurance agent presented Leticia with the opportunity to educate and assist individuals in her first language, Spanish. Leticia finds it incredibly rewarding to help clients make informed decisions that positively impact their lives. She initially started selling life insurance, but over time, her focus shifted toward Medicare, where she can provide more specialized guidance and support for those 65 and over.
During this time, when Leticia began exploring Medicare products, her colleague, Juan Gutierrez, introduced her to Empower Brokerage. Upon partnering with the organization, Letica was pleased to find that Empower offered invaluable resources to help her grow. She experienced engagement with potential clients at stores like Walmart, a steady stream of leads, and a team of knowledgeable professionals who were always ready to guide her. As of the publishing of this article, she has partnered with Empower for eight years, and the collaboration has truly elevated her career, making it both satisfying and productive.
Empower’s training programs are excellent, and while Leticia cherishes the resources, she recognizes that she still has room to improve. For example, Mrs. Martinez would like to expand her skills in social media. She looks forward to applying what she has learned from Empower on this topic. Additionally, the support from Regional Sales Director Claudia Howard has been exceptional. Claudia is empathetic, consistently helps solve challenges, and offers strategic advice that enhances Leticia’s work. Leticia also praises Life Specialist Bertha Garcia for assisting her in creating illustrations for her clients.
Mrs. Martinez has also prospered from attending Empower Brokerage roadshows, which have been instrumental in exposing agents like her to fresh ideas, new carriers, and innovative ways to expand business. Furthermore, Leticia finds the roadshows to be invaluable as they create opportunities to learn and network.

Working with Clients, Goals, and Family
When approaching potential clients, Leticia says, “I believe in starting simple with genuine conversations to uncover their needs and explore ways to improve their benefits with the products I offer.” The 16-year agent states that she is motivated both professionally and personally by her commitment to ethics. Doing the right thing for clients brings immense satisfaction to Leticia, especially when they express gratitude and refer others to her. Since Leticia delivers first-class customer experiences, happy clients continue to recommend her services. Those referrals have become a significant part of her business.
In the near future, Leticia wants to foster a team of agents who embrace ethical standards and professionalism. The South Texas agent envisions growing her book of business while also enjoying quality time with her family. For new and prospective agents, she would advise them to invest in preparation and never miss an opportunity. She believes they should also focus on exceptional customer service as their best marketing tool.
Outside of work, she certainly loves to travel. In 2025, she was fortunate enough to visit Europe five times with her family, exploring places like Dublin, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Spain, Greece, and Italy, her personal favorite.
Leticia thrives on being diligent in her work, seizing opportunities, and continuously learning. “This career has allowed me to achieve a higher income than I ever imagined possible, especially without a college degree and as a Spanish speaker,” explains Mrs. Martinez. “I’m grateful for the flexibility it provides, enabling me to travel, invest in real estate, and, most importantly, be present at every school event to support my children.”
