Data Analyst

A Data Analyst collects, cleans, analyzes, and interprets large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that help organizations make informed business decisions. Key responsibilities include using statistical tools and programming languages like SQL and Python, creating reports and dashboards, and communicating findings to stakeholders through visualizations and presentations. The role bridges raw data and actionable business strategies by uncovering what happened and why.

Core responsibilities

· Data Collection and Management: Gathering data from various sources, creating and maintaining data systems, and ensuring data accuracy.

· Data Cleansing and Processing: Cleaning raw data to remove errors and inconsistencies before analysis.

· Analysis and Interpretation: Using statistical methods and tools to analyze data, identify trends and patterns, and answer business questions.

· Reporting and Visualization: Creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present findings in a clear and understandable way to non-technical audiences.

· Strategic Guidance: Working with management and other teams to identify key metrics, opportunities for improvement, and to inform business strategy.

· Problem Solving: Responding to data-related queries and troubleshooting data and code issues.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential skills

· Technical skills: Proficiency in tools like SQL, Python, Excel, and data visualization software such as Tableau or Power BI.

· Analytical skills: Strong ability to perform statistical analysis and identify trends.

· Communication skills: Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· Business acumen: Understanding business needs and how data can be used to achieve strategic goals.

Education

· A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Economics is often the minimum requirement, with a master’s degree or professional certifications (like the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate or Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Professional Certificate) also beneficial.
