In the fast-paced world of insurance, it can often feel like there’s not a moment to spare. Between meeting with clients, conducting policy reviews, and staying updated with industry developments, finding time for regular physical activity might seem like a daunting task. However, exercise plays a crucial role in maintaining our healthboosting productivity, and managing stress. That’s why we’ve designed a guide to 5-minute workouts for busy agents to help you stay active without disrupting your busy schedule.

Benefits of 5-Minute Workouts

Contrary to popular belief, workouts do not need to be lengthy to be effective. Short and regular bouts of exercise can lead to numerous benefits, including increased energy, improved focus, and a better mood – all of which can significantly enhance your performance as an agent. We are constantly reading through lengthy documents, talking to multiple people, and focusing on several aspects of the sales process all throughout our day. Even Research suggests that these short workouts can contribute to overall physical health, fostering cardiovascular health and supporting weight management.

5-Minute Workout Exercises

Here are some exercises you can do in 5 minutes or less. These exercises are designed to be convenient even within the confines of an office or home.

1. Desk Push-ups

– Stand at your desk and place your hands a little wider than shoulder-width apart on the edge of the desk. Remember to keep your body straight throughout the exercise.

– Walk your feet back until your body is at a slight angle.

– Lower your chest towards the desk, then push back up.

– This exercise targets your arms and chest.

2. Chair Squats

– Stand in front of your chair with your feet hip-width apart. Keep your chest upright and your knees behind your toes.

– Lower your body down until your thighs are parallel to the floor or until your buttocks touch the chair, then stand back up.

– This exercise targets your thighs and glutes.

3. Seated Leg Raises

– Sit on the edge of your chair with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.

– Straighten one leg and hold it up for 5-10 seconds, then lower it back down without letting it touch the floor. Repeat with the other leg. Keep your back straight throughout the exercise.

– This exercise targets your core and legs.

4. Standing Calf Raises

– Stand up straight with your feet hip-width apart.

– Lift your heels off the floor so you’re standing on your toes, then lower them back down. Hold onto a wall or chair for balance if needed.

– This exercise targets your calves.

5. Wall Sits

– Stand against a wall with your feet shoulder-width apart. Keep your back straight throughout the exercise.

– Slide down the wall until your thighs are parallel to the floor, then hold for 10-30 seconds.

– This exercise targets your thighs and glutes.

Maintaining a regular exercise routine can be challenging, especially with a busy schedule and AEP right around the corner. Some practical tips to help incorporate these short workouts into your day would be to set reminders on your phone or computer to take brief exercise breaks, pair exercise with another daily activity, like taking a break from screen time or making a phone call and using an exercise buddy at your workplace to keep each other motivated and accountable.

We encourage you to try these exercises and notice the improvements in your energy levels, productivity, and overall well-being. Exercise is not just about physical health; it’s about improving your quality of life and enhancing your performance in all areas, including your work as an agent. Remember, every bit of movement counts. So, the next time you have a few minutes to spare, consider doing a quick workout instead of checking your phone. We’d love to hear about your experiences or any additional workout suggestions you might have – feel free to share in the comments. As with any new exercise routine, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting. If you want to learn more about keeping your skin safe in the sun this spring, click here.
