Humana announces definitive agreement to merge with Aetna

On July 3, 2015, Humana announced a definitive agreement to merge with Aetna.

“Humana will continue to operate as usual through closing, serving our agent partners, group customers and members.  You should experience no changes in how we work with you, as Humana and Aetna will continue to operate as independent organizations until the transaction is complete.

Your day-to-day contacts will remain the same.  Humana will continue to quote and renew business as usual and compete as it currently does in the marketplace.

Our group customers and members should experience no changes in their current coverage, and Humana will continue to manage its network of providers.  Over time, as we bring our companies together, we expect our combination to result in better consumer experiences, better clinical outcomes, and more affordable, quality healthcare for millions more people.

This announcement is just the first step.  The closing of the transaction, which is expected to occur in the second half of 2016, is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals and a shareholder vote by both companies.  Until the closing, we remain separate independent companies, and we will operate as usual.

Thank you for your partnership.  We look forward to continuing to serve the needs of you, our group customers and members”.

Sincerely,

Beth Bierbower
