Between January 1 – February 14, if your client is in a Medicare Advantage Plan, they can leave their plan and switch to Original Medicare.

If your client switches to Original Medicare during this period, they have until Feb. 14 to also join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to add drug coverage. Their coverage will begin the first day of the month after the plan gets their enrollment form.

If your client switches to Original Medicare, they can sign up for a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan through Medico.

They will have to pass Underwriting.

During this period, your client cannot:

• Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan
• Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another
• Switch from one Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to another
• Join, switch or drop a Medicare Medical Savings (MSA) Plan
