Services Medicare Doesn’t Cover That You Might Need
For seniors on Medicare, you might be happy with your current plan, but there may also be services medicare doesn’t cover that you need. Medicare offers many great benefits, such as access to many providers, your inpatient cost covered, stays in skilled nursing facilities, walkers and wheelchairs, and hospice care. Although this covers an umbrella of different services, there are a few things that you might still have to pay for out of pocket. Today we want to bring to your attention to what those services might be!
What Isn’t Covered By Medicare
Some of these services not covered may not be a big deal to you. But some services might be something you can’t live without. One of the things not covered by Medicare is your vision exams. Do you have glasses? Do you often get eye exams? Your vision helps you not only avoid accidents but helps you stay productive. If you need to visit your eye doctor your medicare plan will most likely not cover it.
How about your hearing aids? Many seniors begin to suffer from the loss of hearing and you won’t be able to get the tab picked up by your Medicare plan. It will, however, pay for hearing test if you are suffering from a specific illness or injury.
How are your pearly whites looking? Any cleanings, fillings or dentures needed will have to be paid for by yourself. Dentures are expensive and if you want to be able to continue smiling from cheek to cheek you will need a way to pay for it.
Long Term Care
Long term care is something you might rarely think about, but it should be at the forefront of your mind. Coverage for long term helps pay for the costs associated with long-term care such as chronic conditions or the need for assistance in your daily routines. If you have Medicare this will come all out of pocket.
Services Not Included
Other services not covered by your Medicare plan include:
- Cosmetic surgery
- Routine Footcare
What Can you Do?
With all these holes what can you do to not suffer the out of pocket blow? What you need is a Medicare supplement! Also known as Medigap Insurance the plan helps fill “gaps” in Original Medicare. Original Medicare pays for much, but not all, of the cost for covered health care services and supplies. A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy can help pay some of the remaining health care costs, like:
